I’ve always been a huge fan of DIY. I used to spend hours on YouTube watching the old Threadbanger videos and admiring their ability to turn one thing into another. YouTube also taught me how to sew, how to knit, and how to crochet. If you’ve always wondered how to do something, I bet there’s a YouTube tutorial video out there!

In 2013, I stumbled upon Stephanie’s website, AllAboutAmi. She specializes in amigurumi, the Japanese art of crocheted/knitted stuffed animals. I saw her blog post for an amigurumi snake she had made to celebrate Chinese New Year and, since I was born in the year of the snake, OF COURSE I had to make one too! Each following year, she created, crocheted, and shared the pattern of the Chinese zodiac animal for the year.

This year is the year of the monkey and, like every year, I anxiously awaited for Stephanie’s pattern. As soon as she posted it, I whipped up my little monkey and, just like every other year, I forced Dollie to take photos with my growing collection of animals.

Happy Chinese New Year!
