The LA County Fair
Every year, we leave the LA County Fair and I wonder out loud to Peter, “Why do we keep coming to the LA Fair? Let’s not go next year.”
And yet.. Every year, we return.
We both hate spending money so the fair isn’t exactly the best for us to enjoy ourselves. You have to pay for parking, admission, games, rides, food, and drinks.. Before you know it, you’ve spent hundreds of dollars and the only thing you have to show for it are a bunch of random little stuffed animal prizes and a stomach full of greasy, weird carnival food. But of course we only spend money on the bare minimum..
This year, King Taco had a coupon for buy one, get one free admission valid for one day only so we decided to take advantage and head to the fair (despite saying we weren’t going to come back last year). It was 103 degrees in Pomona that afternoon so we spent most of our time ducking in and out of the exhibition rooms (and taking dumb pictures with the cardboard cutouts). When it got cooler in the evening, we ventured out and walked around the game booths and rides. The only thing we ended up spending money on was food.. We had a fried burger and “cowboy” french fries from one of the many BBQ booths. We finished the meal with a coffee biscotto milkshake and a slice of fried cheesecake.. Because what county fair trip is complete without a deep fried anything?
Despite never wanting to return to the fair, we enjoyed our day anyways and hobbled back to the car after a long day of walking. We logged over 16,000 steps!
Will we be back to the fair next year? Nope. (But probably yes.)
