For my Christmas present this year, Peter treated me out to a weekend in San Diego with trips to the San Diego Safari Park, the San Diego Zoo, and SeaWorld. Two years ago, I had wanted to take this trip and wanted to gift it to Peter as an anniversary present only to never actually go because of timing.. so technically, he stole my idea. I only recall visiting SeaWorld only because we have photos of a younger me and my brother with the Sesame Street characters around my house. Because the tickets Peter bought granted us access to all 3 parks within 7 days, we decided to visit the Safari Park on Saturday, the Zoo on Sunday, and SeaWorld on Monday. I was a little hesitant because the weather forecast predicted rain on Monday and I hate being outside in the rain, especially outside in an amusement park. However, it was the only available weekend to go so.. off to San Diego we went!

On Saturday, we left home bright and early and headed straight for the Safari Park in Escondido. The weather was beautiful. I couldn’t believe it was supposed to rain in two days. I had researched Yelp for tips on things we should do first to avoid long lines and crowds and it helped me so much in the three parks to be able to go through every show and attraction I wanted to get to before closing. The next morning, we made our way a little further south into San Diego. It was another beautifully blue sky day for the Zoo. Again, we were able to get to all of the attractions I wanted to see with plenty of time to spare. By nightfall, the air had grown cold so we left early and had Phil’s BBQ back at our hotel room. On Monday morning, Peter and I made an early morning pit stop at a local Target to buy some ponchos in preparation for the rain. It was still a little bit hard to believe that it was going to rain because the sky was still so blue! Again, Peter and I were able to see all the shows we wanted and ride all of the rides we wanted with plenty of time to spare. By mid-afternoon, dark clouds rolled in really quickly and it started to sprinkle.. then rain.. then pour. Lucky for us, we had our ponchos ready! I have to admit that the rain didn’t damper any of our fun. At least until I got my sleeve wet. Then I had to walk around with a cold, soggy sleeve. Gross. That night, we drove home.

All in all, I had a fantastic time with Peter. We had a lot of fun and I’m really happy we FINALLY got to go to the parks. Until next time!
