I <3 New York - Day 2
Since we explored lower Manhattan the day before, we took the double-decker bus to upper Manhattan this time.
We stopped at Central Park and rented bikes to bike around the park. Peter and I chose a tandem bike.. what a mistake! It was difficult to start biking and maintain balance. It felt like Peter was doing absolutely nothing when we were going uphill and I’m sure he thought I was doing nothing too. I had to ask several times, “Are you even peddling?!” We also experienced the chain coming off the peddles and getting caught in the gears and a giant puncture wound when the GoPro screw jabbed into my finger when we were falling off the bike.
After returning the bikes and having lunch, we walked around Central Park and headed towards the row boats.
Then, we checked out the Natural History Museum where some of the displays freaked me out (I swear they’re going to come alive at any second..) and where Claudia and I found out that our two architects couldn’t figure out the museum’s map.
We ended our day by going to the top of the Rockefeller building, dubbed the Top of the Rock, for gorgeous twilight, sunset, and night views of the city. From one side of the building, you could see Central Park. From the other side of the building, you can see the Empire State Building.
Claudia and I joked (as we sat, freezing, at the top of the Rock) that we should create a show called the Real Housewives of Photographers. We’re either used as models or sitting in the back, waiting for hours for them to get their shots.
Before returning back to our apartment, we made a pit stop at Lady M and Magnolia Bakery for a bunch of desserts. And of course, picked up a few slices of 99 cent pizza right below our apartment.
