Big Sur Day 4
Today was the last day of the trip. : ( I was so incredibly happy with how the trip had turned out. The clouds that had grayed the first half of the trip had cleared just in time for the Milky Way. We were able to book reservations for the popular Esalen Institute. Peter and I had such a great time and I had fallen in love with Big Sur.
On our last day of the trip, the clouds were long gone and the skies were blue. It was a relaxing drive back towards Los Angeles but I had one more stop planned before getting home.
For lunch, we stopped in Solvang, the cutest little Danish town with bakeries, pastries, windmills, and little tchotchke shops. Peter and I walked around, bought a tub of Danish butter cookies, and ate at Paula’s Pancake House. We even stopped into a little shop selling Christmas ornaments and nutcrackers as if we were smack dab in the middle of winter.
Solvang to Los Angeles was our last leg of the trip. When we got home, I had unfortunately forgotten about the sun exposure you get from sitting in a convertible and everyone commented on incredibly dark I had gotten. People were even commenting on my new, intense tan the next few days back at work. The funny thing was, though it might not have been that noticeable at a quick glance, my face had tanned in a gradient. My forehead was considerably darker than my chin. My face was ombre-tanned.
After unpacking and cleaning the car, we had to take the beautiful Camaro convertible back home to its rightful owner. : ( I had so much fun with the car and it only made my desire for a convertible that much more.
Peter and I ended our vacation with a late dinner at Tasty Garden. It was the perfect ending for our perfect trip.
