Right after my commencement ceremony, Peter and I packed all of our things into the convertible and hit the road. I was so excited to be driving a convertible but my smile immediately turned upside down when it started to sprinkle and we had to pull over to put the top back on. The skies were grey and the air was cold, like a storm was about to roll in.

Our first campground was at the Morro Strand State Beach in Morro Bay, CA, about 3 1/2 hours from Los Angeles. About halfway into the drive, I insisted on driving with the top down because I wasn’t about to rent a convertible and not enjoy it! The air was still cold, even more so now that we were closer to the coast, so we were freezing but laughing and smiling the entire drive up.

Our campsite was right along the beach so, after pitching our tent, Peter and I made our way to the beach to take some photos of the coast and of Morro Rock.

The rest of our very short night consisted of a dinner cooked over a tiny gas burner and falling asleep before 10pm.
