Arizona Day 3
We said our goodbyes to Kay and set off on the 2 1/2 hour drive to Flagstaff. Along the way, we were actively searching for the perfect looking cactus to take a photo with and we found it at a random park!
We got to the Grand Canyon right after lunch and were prepared to hike down the South Kaibab Trail to reach the famous Ooh Aah Point. However, like Devil’s Bridge, the trail was extremely icy and dangerous so I refused to hike down the side of the canyon. A couple saw us standing at the start of hike, looking down at the zig-zag trail. The guy asked if I was scared and I mentioned that the trail was wet and icy. His girlfriend inched forward, testing the trail. She slipped a little bit and I threw my hands up and turned around. NOPE. NOT TODAY.
Peter was upset with me for not wanting to hike the trail but we had experienced how tragic an accident could be during our Big Sur trip so I was in extra panic mode. I wouldn’t let Peter anywhere near the edge of the cliff and I spent all day clutching my belongings in case they magically came to life and jumped over the edge of the canyon.
We hung around the Grand Canyon until after sunset to capture some great photos and video. The temperature dropped significantly as the sun set so we were happy to be back in our car, heading to the hotel.
By the time we checked into the hotel, we were SO ready for dinner. We not-so-patiently waited for our pizza and wings from Pizza Hut. We nearly ran back to our hotel room with the food and immediately devoured it all. Maybe we were really hungry.. Or maybe Arizona Pizza Hut employees know their pizza and wings.. but it was the BEST tasting pizza and hot wings we have ever had.
