New Puppy!
Yesterday, my mom texted me while I was at work and told me a little dog had followed her home from her walk with Dollie. She was extremely skinny but incredibly friendly with both my mom and Dollie. We gave her a bath which revealed that she was COVERED in fleas and ticks under her wiry hair. She spent the night in a cardboard house my dad built for her.
After zero responses to our Found Dog ad and after my reluctance to send her to an animal shelter, Peter and I decided to add her to our growing family. 🙂
Before this little pup entered our lives, we had three dogs including Dollie. This was already quite a handful but I couldn’t imagine life without any one of them. It took a little convincing for me to fully accept that we had just adopted our 4th dog.. But there were too many coincidences and, as a big believer in “if it’s meant to be..”, I couldn’t ignore them.
Dollie is a blondie. Kairi is a blondie. Louie is a blondie. This pup is a blondie.
Dollie’s birthday is 4/25. But Kairi’s birthday is 4/11. Louie’s birthday is 9/11. And the day we adopted this pup was 6/11. Coincidence??
According to my grandma, it’s good luck if a dog follows you home. They represent fortune and, of course, you’d want to keep fortune! This is partially where her name comes from.. Only because Million or Dollar sounded horrendous.
We adopted Kairi when Dollie was 2. We adopted Louie when Kairi was 2. This year, Louie is 3. The universe must have thought, “Gee. You guys are behind. Let me get this puppy to follow you. ADOPT IT.” When we took the puppy to the vet to get an initial check up, we found out she’s about 1! Thus, continuing our 2 year gap between our dogs’ ages.
Welcome to the family, Penny!
